Ghost Dog, huurmoordenaar van beroep, laat zich leiden door een oude samoerai-tekst. Hij kan verdwijnen in de nacht en zich onopgemerkt door de stad verplaatsen. Op een dag wordt de code van Ghost Dog verraden door een gestoorde maffiafamilie die soms zijn diensten inhuurt. Hij reageert zoals een echte samoerai.
